Matthew J. Martin is a partner in Daspin & Aument’s real estate practice who has extensive and practical legal, land use and property management experience in commercial and multi-family real estate.  Mr. Martin has practiced for more than fifteen years in an in-house counsel or outside counsel capacity for national REITs, private developers, and regional and national retailers, and has extensive experience in the intricacies of developing and leasing retail projects.  While working in an in-house capacity, Mr. Martin has served in many roles, such as leading a multi-faceted legal department by overseeing and managing the negotiation of leases and other agreements for approximately 12 million square feet of retail. From this experience, Mr. Martin has developed a deep understanding of how real estate companies operate.  This experience has enabled him to better serve the needs of his clients.  Most recently, Mr. Martin served as Senior Real Estate Counsel for a leading private developer, in which he serviced multiple development teams by negotiating and drafting purchase agreements, lease and occupancy agreements and various land use agreements such as REAs and instruments governing incentive programs for both redevelopment and new construction projects.  Mr. Martin also has experience representing developers in multi-family developments, such as urban high-rise condominium conversions and the acquisition and disposition of residential properties in depressed housing markets.
